About David Rude, C.P.C., M.A.

As a member of the International Coaching Association community, I am continually advancing my strengths as a Certified Professional Coach. I received my Master's in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and I have more than 25 years of real-world experience, including instructor of Human Development and psychology at Folsom Lake College, American River College, Lake Tahoe Community College and Salt Lake Community College, Director of Counseling at Jesuit High School in Carmichael, CA and at St. Francis High School in Mountain View, CA. I am a published author on a variety of subjects related to psychology and education, have developed nationally recognized literacy programs, and am one of National University's most admired instructors.

I created the "Who Am I? Project" (Copyright 2008 5monkey Life Coaching) and have had much success using it with a variety of ages, individuals and groups. The "Who Am I? Project" is a part of the life coaching program I currently offer. The program involves answering approximately 15 – 20 questions that delve into the core of who you are, your origins, your passions, your heroes and so on. The responses lead to much discussion that help reveal (to the participant) many important truths and insights.

I have many gifts that I use as a Life Coach, including a highly-developed intuition and a strong sense of ethics and values. I have been a teacher and counselor for more than twenty-five years and in that time I have helped many people realize their potential and the beauty in their lives.

My clients live and work throughout the United States and Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand. No matter what walk of life they come from they are all interested in moving forward in their personal and/or professional lives.

"David has an uncanny knack of bringing out the best in people by creating an environment that enthusiastically challenges them."

-Len Christianson, Former Supervisor, Mountain View, CA

About 5monkey

What is the story behind 5monkey?
In the summer of 2006 I met some very talented people in Salt Lake City who were very interested in Mayan culture and history. We met on several occasions to share ideas about the current consciousness (in our society) and what we felt about ourselves in relation to this consciousness. During this time I learned that my Mayan Sun (birth) sign was 5monkey. I found the name 5monkey to be interesting and even before I learned about its meaning (see below), I adopted it as the name of my Life Coaching business.

According to the Maya:
The 5 is also known as empowerment. The text goes onto to say that five is an intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application. Fives can probe directly to the core of any situation making them very intuitive and very adept at understanding people.

The Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver of Time. Monkey takes ideas as threads or vines and weaves them into the fabric of our reality. New patterns or inventions are also woven into our lives by Monkey. Monkeys are amiable, intelligent, generous, and jacks of all trades. Monkey’s innocent curiosity leads to artistic expression and constructive solutions.
